The QGBOTA presented a proposal to various departments of the Queensland Greyhound Racing Industry to formalise all industry members who have contact with racing Greyhounds.
The proposal was aimed to:
- Increase awareness of the correct way to handle a Greyhound
- Give a clear outline of expectations required under the GAR’s
- Allow all connections to understand the requirements for participants
- Improve professionalism and standards expected by the industry
- Provide transparency and confidence to the public of acceptable industry practices.
The QGBOTA was hoping for a proactive approach to encourage the formalisation of registered licence holders. We have received the following reply from the QRIC commissioner Catherine Clark.
“QRIC supports education and the professional development of all participants in the industry, however it is not within QRIC’s remit to mandate clubs to expand or redefine the duties of their employees.”
