Today (Monday Jan 19th 2026) a representative of the QGBOTA, on behalf of its members, met with Mary Collier RQ and two representatives from the Racing Ministers Office.
Whilst the meeting was informal, we have been requested not to quote attendees, which we shall respect.
The representative was however questioned on the legitimacy of the QGBOTA, and its current membership. We believe the attendees were satisfied with the answers, and we can now move forward as the participant representative group.
General points that can be taken from the meeting are that the current RQ focus is on the commitment and finalising the 2026/2027 tri-code racing calendar as a priority for now.
“The Next Lap” is currently in the infancy of planning and staging, due to be presented to State Government around the March 2026 timeframe. Nothing more has been decided relating to the finer detail of the recommendations.
The recommendations and how/if/when they will be implemented has a general guideline of a 4 year (plus) time line.
Members and participants will be pleased to hear that the State Government representatives continued to repeat their unwavering support for the Greyhound code with a vision for a prosperous future.
The takeaway points for the current and immediate future is that there should be no changes from Racing Queensland at this time. The QGBOTA will continue to monitor and pass on any more information as it becomes available.
